Scott Eckart Receives 2026 MassMutual Community Service Award for Service to Friends of Zionsville Swimming Inc.

WestPoint is proud to recognize Financial Advisor Scott Eckart on being named a recipient of the 2026 MassMutual Community Service Award, honoring his dedication to community service and his leadership with Friends of Zionsville Swimming Inc.
The MassMutual Community Service Award recognizes individuals who make a meaningful difference through volunteerism and service. For Scott, the award reflects a commitment that has spanned more than three decades.
Since moving to Indiana from Southern California in 1994, Scott and his family have been actively involved with their local swim organization. All three of his children learned to swim through the program, and over the years Scott has volunteered as a coach and advocate for expanding access to swim education and water safety.
“I have been a part of the main swim organization for over 30 years,” Scott shared. “We joined as soon as we moved to Indiana, and it has been an important part of our family’s life ever since.”
Scott’s passion for water safety stems from a lifelong connection to swimming and a deeply impactful experience from his youth. Growing up around recreational and competitive swimming, boating, skiing, and sailing, he developed a strong appreciation for the importance of being confident and safe in and around water. As a young person, he attended the funeral of a teenager who had tragically drowned—an experience that left a lasting impression and reinforced the critical importance of swim education.
“We want to create opportunities that make it easier for people to learn how to swim and ensure that anyone who needs lessons has access to them.”
Today, Scott and his wife are helping address that need through their involvement with Friends of Zionsville Swimming Inc., the nonprofit fundraising arm of the local swim organization. The organization works to expand access to swim lessons for children and families who may not otherwise have the opportunity to learn these lifesaving skills, including individuals with special needs.
One of the organization’s recent accomplishments was the installation of a heater for its 50-meter pool, a significant project that allows the facility to maintain a consistent water temperature throughout cooler seasons. The improvement has helped make swimming more accessible year-round while also creating a more comfortable environment for participants with sensory challenges.

When asked how organizations like WestPoint can make a meaningful difference, Scott emphasized the unique role financial advisors play within their communities.
For Scott, community involvement is rooted in the belief that creating stronger communities requires people to invest their time, energy, and talents in causes that improve the lives of others. That philosophy also aligns closely with his professional life.
Looking ahead, Scott is excited about opportunities to partner with local civic organizations to expand outreach efforts and encourage both children and adults to develop confidence in the water.
