With more than a decade of experience in financial services, Doug Shannon focuses on strategies that integrate investments, insurance, and retirement income considerations. He works closely with individuals and families to develop customized approaches that reflect their unique goals and priorities.
Doug graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and went on to earn multiple professional designations through The American College of Financial Services: CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) in 2013, Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) in 2014, Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) in 2015, and Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®) in 2017. Prior to joining WestPoint Financial Group, he spent seven years as a Wealth Management Advisor at Northwestern Mutual.
Doug and his wife, Amy, married in 2008 and have two daughters, Jordan and Gabriella, along with two dogs, Daisy and Scarlet, and one rabbit, Queen. He has also been active in his community, including recognition as a member of the Greater Peoria 40 Leaders Under Forty*. Doug serves as a member of the Richwoods PTO, and he and Amy are founding and Summit members of the Emerging Philanthropist Fund through the Community Foundation of Central Illinois. He has also contributed time to organizations including Easter Seals and the Friendship House of Christian Service, where he helped create and chair Drive2Thrive, a fundraiser that ran from 2021 to 2024. In his free time, Doug enjoys sports, movies, games, and attending his daughters’ activities.
