A Foundation of Mutual Strength Better Together
Backed by MassMutual’s long-standing financial strength and mutual values, we’re committed to helping you protect what matters and build a secure future together.
Why MassMutual?
Since 1851, MassMutual’s business decisions have been guided by a commitment to provide financial security and enduring value to our participating policyowners.
Inspiring People to Rely on Each Other
As a General Agency of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), we are backed by a mutually owned company that has helped people keep their promises, protect their families, and support their communities since 1851.
MassMutual calls it Living Mutual, and it’s in their DNA. Ours too: along with MassMutual, we are committed to helping you secure your future and protect the ones you love.
Mutual Ownership
As a mutual company, with no shareholders, MassMutual is managed with the long-term interests of its policyowners and members in mind.
Policyowners and members may benefit directly from the Company’s mutual ownership structure. For example, if you are the insured under a MassMutual participating whole life insurance policy, you are a member of the Company and entitled to vote for its board of directors. And if you are the owner of that participating policy, you may be eligible to share in any dividends the Company may declare.
A Prudent Investment Philosophy
MassMutual seeks to generate long-term stable investment performance to support its financial strength and ability to meet its financial commitment to policyowners. As a mutual company, MassMutual is able to take a long-term strategy – built on diversification, prudent security selection and relative value – and focus less on short-term fluctuations in asset values.
Investing in Businesses That Benefit our Policyowners
MassMutual’s strategic investments in retirement, asset management and international insurance businesses can provide diverse sources of growth and earnings that have consistently helped it grow capital and enhance its dividend-paying ability, as well as broadening MassMutual’s spectrum of financial products and services.
Financial Strength Ratings
MassMutual has consistently earned some of the highest financial strength ratings of any company in any industry.
